RIFLE. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 6563. Mfg. 1864. Bbl. 24" octagon w/ integral mag. tube. Matching serial numbers on stock & buttplate. Bbl. sleeve rotates for loading. Brass blade front sight w/ bbl. mounted graduated leaf rear sight. Brass frame. Walnut stock w/ brass trapdoor buttplate; left side of stock has "Henry bump". Left side of stock is fitted w/ a sling swivel, bbl. has a sling loop. Serial number in range of those used by Illinois Infantry units. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Henry sling hook. Copies of "The Historic Henry Rifle" by Wiley Sword and "The Story of Benjamin Tyler Henry and His Famed Repeating Rifle" by Les Quick. CONDITION: bbl. finish has faded to a mottled gray-brown showing scattered spots of darker corrosion w/ small dents & handling marks. Brass has a mild patina appearance showing small dents & scratches. Unsanded stock has a dark appearance showing wear, dents & handling marks w/ small chips & cracks around the toe & lower tang areas. Left side of the stock has a small added wood repair along the top tang. Lever has some drop when not fastened. Bore is dark retaining strong rifling. (01-27059/DS). ANTIQUE. $15,000-20,000.
